This project located in Wenzhou, Zhejiang, is a fashion buyer's boutique named "Da Qian Pavilion". The name derives from the proprietor's moniker "Da Qian," while the character "Pavilion" echoes the attic imagery embedded within the space. The overall spatial design is rooted in Chinese architectural style, extracting elements from traditional Chinese pavilions and pagodas. Integrating the existing structural columns, we constructed a two-tier VIP lounge area that serves as the visual focal point of the space. We transformed the originally flat roof into a pitched structure with beveled endpoints, which, together with the central pavilion volume, delineates the imagery of "eaves and attic." The facade features a perforated entrance gate, allowing passersby to glimpse the silhouettes of the interior pavilion and eaves — partially revealed, partially concealed. Additionally, beyond the beveled roof ends, column capitals are similarly chamfered, echoing the eave forms and further reinforcing the structural coherence. Customers wandering through the space are transported as if traversing a traditional Chinese pavilion, where a touch of classical charm is interwoven with a contemporary fashion atmosphere. The overall spatial style is predominantly Chinese in character, upon which we layered further personalized design — not merely to provide a refined shopping environment, but to craft a distinctive spatial experience through material detail.

Bringing the Pavilion Indoors

Using traditional architectural pavilions as a prototype, we distilled their classic silhouettes and structural logic, transforming an outdoor architectural typology into the visual centerpiece of an interior space. From the entrance, customers are drawn to this element, establishing an impression of a "private residence" and reinforcing the store's stylistic identity while distinguishing it spatially from conventional retail environments.

Ascending to the Pavilion

The second level is entirely designated as a VIP room, emphasizing the store's positioning as a private buyer's boutique and offering a haute couture service model. The spatial program shifts from public display to private experience, enhancing the customer's sense of exclusivity.

Spatial Texture

Bamboo Weave Partitions: The VIP room features intangible cultural heritage bamboo weaving for its doors and windows, forming semi-transparent visual partitions that ensure privacy while allowing light and air to permeate, harmonizing with the overall Chinese spatial character.

Art Skylight: Above the VIP room, we commissioned custom art glass to simulate the dynamic ambience of dappled foliage, providing VIP clients with an immersive, multi-layered spatial experience.
